Its been already three years when I started, giving my time and myself of joining and celebrating the masses of "Simbang Gabi" or Misa de Gallo or Mass at Dawn. I woke up early of this morning (Dec. 16) to go to church, as the bell rings telling to catholic devotees (including me) to join the mass at dawn as it begin on its first mass. As everyone was very excited, I was just calm and contemplating what this "Simbang gabi is all about to me?".
As usual, I went to my favorite seat on the right front part of the church, there I found my comfort and convenience. I've kneel down, as a sign of humility and respect to our God, who choose to stepped down from the pedestal merely to redeemed us. I started to pray to him, encompasses my gratefulness to his countless blessings for me and to my family, for the forgiveness of my mistakes and sins, and also my personal intention was raised. I've looked around after the pray, nothing unusual, nothing special, same people I used to see, same set up my eyes used to eyed with, but as I profoundly contemplate and reflect for a while, the exceptional beauty and amazing lights produced by colorful Christmas lights surrounds the Christmas tree caught my attention, and I've asked myself "Is this one of the signs that he wanted me to see and reflect with?", As earlier I've asked myself for what this mass at dawn all about to me, I think God hears me, and he probably showed what I've asked for, the LIGHT.
This season of advent is a season of preparation, a preparation for Christmas party, a preparation for noche buena, a preparation for Christmas day which calls for us to decorate our home with full Christmas theme, we have belen's, Christmas trees/lights, lanterns, and many many more that will complete our preparation for the day of Christmas. But wait, there's still unprepared yet, YOU. Are you finally prepared for this coming Christmas? I'm not talking about your Christmas attires or Christmas gifts for your inaanak or to whom you would like to give gifts, But its about your inner self, the whole you. Sometimes, we tend to forget that Christmas is the birthday of our savior Jesus, He is the special guest that we should have on the day that we prepared so much. Sometimes, we have this misconception that Christmas is all about bulky and luxurious gifts, giant Christmas tree, exceptional set up of belen and full of aesthetic preparation, we tend to forget the essence of this meaningful season, A season to Keep Quite for a while, to listen, PRAY, REFLECT PROFOUNDLY and FORGIVENESS. This four elements of the real CHRISTMAS LIGHT does not hinders us to feel the jovial experience that we should feel during this moment, but to remind us that along that happiness, along the parties that we attend to, along with various preparation we made, let us not forget to thank him, to listen to him, to pray to him and to contemplate profoundly what he whispers unto us and how he wanted us to forgive, that's how he wanted us to welcome him. As simple as we can, he never demands us to prepare aesthetically to much, but he simply wants us to prepare ourselves for his coming, with our heart humility, with our heart and soul that is capable to listen, a heart that is willing to pray sincerely and straight from the heart, a heart that is loving and willing to forgive. Through this preparations, he would like us to seek the real light of this season, a light that never fades, a light that will shed upon us whenever the darkness came. He is the light that we are waiting for, he is the light that we are longing for, he is the light that will glare our darkness moments he is the light that will guides us to walk in the path going to the banquet of eternal life.
Now have you seen his Light? When we found his light, may we not forget to share such light to others, so that they too will lighted by his glare.
May we not be exhausted of finding his light, for we needed it so much, as we walk over this obscurity world.
God Bless. Let us prepared not just by decorating our houses, but OURSELVES.
Learn how to Listen, Pray, Reflect and Forgive and light will come along the way.
